About Us

Athens Scuba Park

Since 1987, Athens Scuba Park has always been a safe & relaxing location for divers to come out and spend a day or a weekend away from the city.

Being divers ourselves, we were able to build exactly what we wanted. The spring-fed warm waters boast an average visibility of 35’ that can peak at 70’. The lake’s depth is from 20 to 35 feet with the park facilities designed for maximum safety & enjoyment for divers. There are 11 diving docks with shaded pavilions for sun & rain protection, hot/cold showers w/ shampoo & conditioner in the bath house and camping areas for all size groups.

We have a wide range of 30+ wrecks to discover. Dive thru our new 60’ Hawker 600 Jet or investigate our three new 30’ sail boats. You can dip down onto the Take Two, a triple-deck houseboat as well as explore the DART bus that made its last stop over off of dock # 7. Then after that, make your way over to dock # 11 where a Lockheed C-140 Jet Star plane also arrived at its last destination.

Our store is a full service, fully stocked dive shop. We price our gear very competitively and provide smaller open water dive classes. We also offer in-house Specialty Courses for the adventurous!

Athens Scuba Park With the consistent upgrading of the amenities, RV hookups and gear rinse stations, the many more boats, airplanes, motorcycles, and golf cart, we are always striving to make each guest’s visit here the most fun, the most enjoyable and the safest place to dive.

Dive In

More boats, airplanes, motorcycles and a space capsule round out the menu of playful quarry attractions, offering divers hours of enjoyment and underwater photographers a wide variety of unusual backdrops. Look around while you’re here. From the sugar sand volleyball court to the full line of White’s Metal Detectors on the wall, you’ll have a feeling of entertainment and adventure.

Can't even put into words how great this place was. You pull in to a nice gated entrance with security on your right side, pull up to a full scuba shop, volley ball court, and stage. They offer paddle boards and kayaks free of charge with your daily entrance fee. The lake is full of tons of sunken ships, planes, house boats, buses, etc. IF you really have a wild side drop through their 200 yard cave system deep in the depth of the lake. They offer RV hook ups, camping, gazebo's at every site and picnic benches. Shannon and Calvin live and breathe this land, this is not just a business to them. Alex is great help and will make sure your tanks are topped off and ready to go down under. This park offers full hot showers complete with shampoo, conditioner, and soap. They even have combs, and beauty products for the women. This truly is a one stop shop. Some people who have dove the Blue Lagoon need to make the drive to see what a real dive park is. This place is not all about the money like the blue lagoon and is all about the experience. I will return to Athens frequently even though it is 3 hours from my house.

Fantastic scuba park! I've been here many times and it's always been a great experience. The viz is the best you'll find in the area, typically 10-20 feet. They have a bunch of airplanes, boats, etc to poke around. There's also a system of steel culverts on the bottom to do cave diving in. The staff is very friendly toward properly certified solo & self-reliant divers... they also don't have a cumbersome system of reservations: just show up and dive! The only thing I don't like is that the depth maxes out at about 30 feet, there's also no fish. The only wildlife I found was a lone turtle. Anyhow, I love it here! 5 out of 5 stars

Here’s an honest review. This place is amazing. End of story. Family owned and operated by some of the most friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable people. The visibility when I was there (Aug 1, 2018) was a good 25-30 feet average. When I was diving through one of their big Jet Airliners, I could see all the way through it no problem. (50-60 feet visibility.) Now I’ve been to other scuba parks in Texas, (Huntsville and over in Terrel), and I’ve never seen the visibility that good. Also Athens has over 30 wrecks to look at! Definitely my new favorite spot to dive in Texas! I would drive out of the way to come here! Tank fills are $10 a tank and took about 3 min to fill mine! Very quick! Also they have a full bathhouse with Double Showers, restroom and hair products for a nice hot wash after you dive. We participated in an event while we were there that included finding golf balls sunk in the lake and you get a free prize in the shop for finding one! Someone won a $500 MARES COMPUTER! Such a great place I highly recommend this place!
