The Big Sandy Heritage Center is housed in the historic railroad station in downtown Pikeville. Here you will find dozens of exhibits that portray the rich history and culture of Eastern Kentucky.

The Big Sandy Heritage Center showcases the people, places, and events that have made our region so unique. In our main exhibit hall, you will be able to view an 1860’s era log home as well as photos and documents from early pioneers. In our Civil War room, you will find various artifacts from the Civil War as well as others representing our region's contributions in conflicts through the Vietnam War. In our Railroad Room, we have displayed many pictures and other memorabilia from the early railroading era that played such a critical role in the development of Eastern Kentucky during the first half of the 1900's.
